Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 slices of your favorite bread whole grain, sourdough, or gluten-free – your choice!
  • 1 small clove of garlic optional
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced cherry tomatoes red pepper flakes, a poached or fried egg, feta cheese, or fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley

Instructions

  • Cut the ripe avocado in half, scoop out the flesh into a basin after removing the pit. Use a fork to mash it up until it's as smooth as you like. You can add a small clove of minced garlic to the mashed avocado if you'd like a little more flavor.
  • Toast the Bread: Toast your slices of bread in a hot oven or toaster until they are crisp and golden brown.
  • Place a small amount of olive oil on each slice of toasted bread before assembling the avocado toast. Then, equally distribute the mashed avocado over the slices of bread.
  • To perfectly season the avocado, add a dash of salt and freshly ground black pepper to give it a richer flavor. Red pepper flakes can be used for an added kick if you like a little bit of spice.
  • Create some originality by adding your own toppings! Add your preferred ingredients to the avocado toast. A cooked or poached egg provides nutrition and creaminess, while sliced cherry tomatoes give the dish a pop of freshness. Feta cheese that has been crushed is a great option if you adore cheese. Fresh herbs like cilantro and parsley may give a splash of color and a flavorful kick.
  • Serving and Enjoying Your avocado toast is now prepared for consumption. Take advantage of it as a quick breakfast, a filling brunch, or even a nutritious snack.
