- 1 bone-in ham about 4-5 pounds
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Prepare the Ham:
Place the ham in a roasting pan, cut side down.
If your ham has a thick skin, score it in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep, to help the glaze penetrate.
Make the Glaze:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
Stir continuously until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it slightly thickens.
Glaze the Ham:
Brush a generous amount of the glaze over the ham, ensuring an even coating.
Reserve some of the glaze for basting during cooking.
Bake:
Cover the ham with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
Baste the ham with the reserved glaze every 30 minutes for added flavor.
Final Glaze:
About 15-20 minutes before the ham is done, remove the foil and brush another layer of glaze over the ham.
This will allow the glaze to caramelize and form a beautiful crust.
