Ingredients

  • 1 bone-in ham about 4-5 pounds
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).

Prepare the Ham:

  • Place the ham in a roasting pan, cut side down.
  • If your ham has a thick skin, score it in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep, to help the glaze penetrate.

Make the Glaze:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
  • Stir continuously until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it slightly thickens.

Glaze the Ham:

  • Brush a generous amount of the glaze over the ham, ensuring an even coating.
  • Reserve some of the glaze for basting during cooking.

Bake:

  • Cover the ham with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
  • Baste the ham with the reserved glaze every 30 minutes for added flavor.

Final Glaze:

  • About 15-20 minutes before the ham is done, remove the foil and brush another layer of glaze over the ham.
  • This will allow the glaze to caramelize and form a beautiful crust.

Rest and Serve:

  • Once the ham reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

Carve and Enjoy:

  • Carve the ham into slices and serve with any remaining glaze as a drizzle.
