Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides of the patties generously with salt and pepper.
Place the burger patties on the preheated grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger patty and allow it to melt.
While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
Once the burgers are cooked to your liking and the cheese is melted, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a minute.
To assemble the burgers, spread a tablespoon of ranch dressing on the bottom half of each hamburger bun.
Place a cooked burger patty on top of the ranch dressing.
Add a slice of tomato and a lettuce leaf on top of each burger patty.
Top with the other half of the hamburger bun.
Serve the ranch burgers immediately with your favorite sides like french fries, potato chips, or a fresh salad.
